Marquetry tray

Last Friday I attended a workshop of Chris Malcomson in Apeldoorn. We will make a tray inlaid with flowers and leaves.
It was hard work to get the inlaid work ready on time. Partly this is why I forgot to take pictures.
So I can only show a picture of the end result.    

To give an idea how fiddly the work is. This picture is almost the real size of the tray we made.

During the workshop, I decided not to make a tray out of it but a half scale coffee table.
I'm not completely satisfied with the end result. Which is not bad. The good thing is I have learned a new technique again. There will be definitely a time when I will use the techniques I learned this day.

These are the "left overs" from the workshop.
Those four little green things you see on the sticky tape are some of the leaves we got as a reserve.
The white piece of paper was our template.

We went tired home with, again, more knowledge about what you can do with wood.
