Crockery

My first post of the year. What is nicer than to start with a story about a cozy kind of workshop that I attended.
It was thursday. The weather forcast was a bit stormy in the morning. So nothing to keep me at home. Packed with, as usual, to much gear I left the building.
The ride to Kitty went perfectly. No traffic jams and just some little rain. Only occasional strong winds. Kitty had invited us to follow the workshop in her home.

Last year Thea, from Minidoor, followed a workshop at Anja Knoop making crockery from fimo. Later Anja authorized Thea to learn some of her friends this technique. That thursday was the day.
After the coffee we began to knead the fimo and used the pasta machine to turn the lump of fimo into nice thin slices.

Finally Thea explained how we could make plates, cups and other crockery with the beads and other tools we took with us from home. We quickly went to work ourselves. Just before diner the first plate with fimo went in the oven.

After a perfect catered lunch it was time to try out the technique of painting crockery. Thea arranged for each of us a special pen, in Dutch its called: omkeerpen, and we could choose from many colors of paint. From home we took a pattern that we would like to try painting on our self made crockery.
We all did a great job and wend home with a plate painted with a full image.
I was more or less satisfied with one of the plates that I painted. The pattern that I painted on the scale was not to my liking. But with this workshop we learned how to make our own crockery and what it to took by painting them. Thank you again for teaching us Thea.
This is what I made during the workshop. It looks like most things are half scale. Would I ever get a good feel for size?
At home I managed to clean the scale so I can paint it again. I just go practicing.

Ben even kwijt hoe die precies heet. Ik ga het navragen voor je.

  3. Karin, je hebt een leuk verslag gemaakt. Het is inderdaad een techniek die je door veel te oefenen goed onder de knie kunt krijgen. Ook erg leuk dat je meegedaan hebt.
    Groetjes, Thea
