Learning to solder

Last Monday me and my friend Marie Louise have followed a soldering workshop.
The workshop was given by Akke Ris.
I could already solder but that was more like frying with large blobs. And now I can really solder.
I've learned that you first have to heat with the bolt the two pieces of metal you would like to connect to each other. Than use S39 on it, a little solder to your bolt and than against the heat spot. Then the solder flows and give a nice read.
This is the result a bicycle rack.
Akke told us that when the workpiece is finished we should wash it well with detergent. This in order to remove the S39. Then we can paint the bicycle rack.
Stubborn as I am, I wanted to see what happened when the rack stands, not washed, overnight in the rain. A rusty rack was the next morning waiting for me.

What shall I make more?

  3. Haha! But to be honest, to me it looks really good that rusty way! Maybe some weeds or climbing ivy to add more age?

  4. Als je iets oud en roestig wilt laten lijken is dat vaak een hele klus en jij hoeft er niets voor te doen.
Het rek is erg mooi. Ik wil ook nog eens goed leren solderen.

  5. that's excellent! Very realistic. And your soldering is so neat and precise. So clever. Hugs, Sandie (Snippets from my Studio)
